As I understand the black market is gone. IÂ´m sure u already had discussions about it but I missed it cause of lack of activity. Today I had to experience the effect of it. There was simply nothing to buy and I couldnÂ´t leave dp as I restarted yesterday. Buhu some might think but there is actually a big problem with that. Since I played this game since early 2004 I simply went to chat and asked for some minerals and all of a sudden there was minerals everywhere so for me it wasnÂ´t a big problem BUT... If I was new here and was on my second day playing I would most likely given up and quit. I can only speak for myself here but I sure as h..l didnÂ´t demand stuff on chat my second day and my experience when 2 days old actually do is that it has little effect. So to sum it up, minerals on market is a basic thing to play this game so I wouldnÂ´t be suprised if we loose alot of newcomers cause the lack of it. What is the reason it has been removed?

I can speak from experience I quit playing this game a couple years ago because of the broke down market.

I came across a GC website in google while searching for something containing the word galactic, and decided to try playing again.

I don`t know much about the market situation now since I just rejoined today, but back then I could only buy 1 type of minerals for about 2 weeks straight. I got bored of not being able to build anything. Spending the whole says worth of turns unable to do anything but exploring for borders and doing research gets boring fast for some people.

@ pistol pete No I don´t as I rarely get in contact with empires younger then 5 days old. I do however take part of a much bigger game then this and the general discussion about how to keep younger players is, how do we make it simpler so they stay the first month? After that the chance is alot bigger they get hooked. This is a very simple way to to make new empires think that this is actually a game for them. Keep in mind that they have thousands and thousands of games to choose from. Why would they choose a game that u have to beg on transfer or be plain lucky to do what the game is all about, fighting, when they have 1000 other games quite simular to this and to ur surprise? it just works and they get off with a nice start? For me it´s just plain not-smart.

I do agree with that mate but if everyone would contribute a little of there time to spare some minerals in little batches for the new and starting players that would help. and for those established empires kindly spare the small batches and if you where able to buy some small batches to get to the bulk ones kindly repost them. We have done this before and it worked so i don`t believe its impossible to do it now. =)

i am posting small batches of minerals at 10K if others need quite a good amount of minerals for them to build ships and a such do pm me in RT coz i have some minerals to spare. tnx

Maybe if Anfit could make a mod that would allow us miners to easily post 200k lots in the market?
Because it is pretty tedious work. Especially because of the maximum posts too.
It`s much easier to buy out lots than to post them :/

Can you mention an example were a new player left because he could not find minerals? I doubt it.

I think the main reason why people would want to leave this game, is something completely different, but also related to use/abuse of the market. And it would most likely not be the new ones who are not aware that these things happen.

Seriously?? The answer is to either go Marauder, or go to Ultra? It seems that the prevailing attitude is to keep a dying game dying, and to hell with trying to fix it for newer players, or even ones that have been playing for years. The Black Market works in DM, but not in RT? Im actually surprised that more minerals arent on the market, since it seems there is a greater influx of A Miners lately; the problem there being is that they have too many options for income(Tax, mineral, industry) lol, but there lies the problem- if coding for an existing Black Market cant be fixed, then there is no way to make any other changes then, is there? Or how about drop the cap that an empire can hold? Would prevent from too much stockpiling of income, thus allowing more minerals on the market. A Black market wouldnt hurt mineral miners any, because the prices are higher than what a player can post anyway. The only way an A Miner gets hurt by a black market is if they dont post in the first place, and with that we are now right where we just started.

Yes I could, but again, itÂ´s not for me as i can get it if I like. I talk about this to benefit the game a a whole. If newcomers quit of such an not-smartic thing we all lose...

there used to be a staff run thing where if you were new or restarted you could just pm a staff member and get 5k of every mineral

Oh and btw, since I asked on chat for minerals it was alright for 30 minutes, since then itÂ´s been empty the whole time wich is like 3 hours ago. Again, please explain to me how blackmarket could make the situation worse. Keep in mind that you are new to the game and not played it like 3-7 years. In what way is this a good situation?

guess this is why there are ships with no mineral needed to build. so long as terran has a few then its all good. newbies should learn to walk before they fly.

best would probably be to have some sort of artifact designed to destroy a set % of minerals. Like dineros do for cash imo.

The problem is that if you fill the market with artificial minerals then over time mineral miners will dissappear.

Minerals are simply inbalanced and the consumption of minerals is way lower than the production. So the simple answer is simply to increase the consumption of minerals. This can be combined with a change to the mineral miner modifiers and max price of minerals. Set the max price of minerals at 3000 and reduce the production of minerals by a factor of 50%.

I think when looking at how the servers has been for the last many years its a fact that minerals is not balanced at all!
