I like Terrans, good versatility, income stream, good ships too

I have played every race, most enjoyed playing tax viral, or maybe Comm. Viral when i had 700+ planets and a decent income

Lots of fun, and very cheap. Also lots of different killer spams and half stacks

Guardian is good fun too. even before BR changes 0-100mil pr in an hour or less easy, that was fun

Having said that I`m Terran as i started and plan to stay at that for once. biggest range of ships in the game

Spamming has always been a problem, but there is no contest when you bring in a counter

Generally lose one, rarely lose two, and never lose three when stacked

I will always punish people on counters if i can

Therefore pound for pound i win

Plus spamming if used regularly becomes mind numbingly predictable

Kind of like playing Poker with only one suit of cards....

I guess then there is only one solution to that issue, Apollo; never stop playing.

and yet any careful spam still owned all those destroyers, all that build rate means nothing when the ship gets slaughtered when you go offline for the night

and I thought recent ship changed made terran better.

I mean come on, lyth most cap ships get nerfed, whereas herc BR doubles and garuda/other destroyer BRs get more than 2x increase? :P open your eyes man!

I would agree. With the changes made the past year, terran ships have become less and less of a balanced advantage.

used to be the advantage of a terran fleet was the balancing and playing the strengths off the weaknesses of a stack. now a spam from most of the capital ships from the other races results in a automatic loss.

A terran defeating a spam these days is sheer luck in guessing wrong by the spammer.

Which is somewhat sad as a newbie trying the game plays either Terran or Miner first. Most pick terran (probably because it`s "earth"). And they get killed because they don`t have any clue how to balance the fleet for an attack nor realize a spammer kills Terrans.

They lose interest in getting killed all the time, they go away.

i`d say give the unpaid terrans one of the current paid ships for the low PR fights...and a paid Terran a choice of one ship from another race ... maybe not the prime ship (i.e. they Can`t pick Borrelly, but can select Cronus).

Now that would mix it up and takle the certainty away from a spammer that a Terran is easy pickings.

Kalzul, nearly 3 mil % mineral generation, plus an awesome shiplist...it takes real skill to lose if your attacking with the zul. only draw back is having to spam all the time or make really high pr stacks, and the ships don`t do nearly enough damage for their pr. but hey...you can`t have it all.

Well, I should have said being paid gives you an advantage in itself than being unpaid, besides the turns and what not, it does have a pr advantage if you want to dissect it that way, but again it is miniscule, but enough for a difference.

Yeah the bug is really annoying. It just so happens that on normal, there are two miner empires that have coll ships on different sides so basically, it really sucks to be a collective on normal right now :S

Omeg, you are totally correct. Collectives are beasts when played properly. But there are ways to kill a collective. This is due to the fact that despite their good stats, most of their ships build slow and still lose turn for turn to most caps. Even with capture, this is a huge liability.

I might be a minority but I dont find paid races that good. Guardian? Can`t UW. and ship list is very boring and stale (although they are good fighters yes, the economy sucks)

Viral? Good versatility with REing ships, but usually the economy isnt good enough due to the fact that ships cost 3x more than they usually do to build. a huge factor on TB. They are definately on of the easiest races to play (eg, bor spam ;))

Maru? They are probably the most underused race...but they are once again non-explorable and very one dimensional when it comes to income and shiplist. They are also like the only race on GC that has a inherent weakness to kin. Not something to be proud about.

Good point about the collectives Admiral. I`ve sometimes shot at a collective as a viral and barely lost a ship due to the capture bug.

Unpaid races wise, collective - main reason MD is because of their defensiveness and offensiveness capabilities that and capturing, at times I see them more powerful than A. Miner. A. Miner would come in as second unpaid race, followed by terran. Terran is just not as great anymore versatility wise when compared to others (Note: Taking this from a TB view, not RT)

Depends on the server, collective are not so good on the fast server where I am as the build rates are to slow and the bug with capturing vessels really sucks (which is exploited by empires that have done a UW previously as collective). Also not enough targets on the turn based servers.

Best is a super subjective way of describing the race. I think that miners are definately the most versatile race. You can go cgs/explorable for lower base PR and lower PR fighting

You can go minerals and hoard planets for insane income on RT and also one of the fastest start up empires in the game.

You can also go tax miner and simply be the richest income stream in the game, but have high base PR and aim to control the ranks.

Few other races have this sort of versatility offered to them in terms of income choices.

Shiplist is on the defensive side, but still able to pack a punch when needed. Very fast PR building ships which is a huge plus on TB, and miners is no longer a race that gets kin spammed down easily. So I would describe the shiplist as balanced/defensive/great for rank control overall still.

And despite the recent base nerfs, UW prospects are okay. Not as great as virals imo, but a bit better than terran and probably a bit better than coll/maru too (since explorable + easier to set up empires)

I don`t know why so many people are saying coll. Sure, they might be beasts when played correctly and in certain circumstances, but their BRs weren`t increased that much, they lack a fast building cap ship and they are unexplorable. I maintain that miners are the most versatile/easy to play/and by extention best race on GC. But things overall are fairly well balanced. You cant go wrong chosing any race imo.

I would say collective if your good at holding planets. Their ships are both great on offense and defensive. Withthe build rates boost, they became even more deadly. Actually if I was able to I would go collective right now, but I have too much invested in terran.

For second I would say either guard or viral, depending on your ship picks on viral.
