how can stop from being attack when offline or just have roll with punchs and take licking

If you have a pr of below 5,000 you are under np (newbie protection) you can`t be attacked. If you`re above that you need to be under damage protection to prevent being attacked, which you often get 24 hours of when you`ve been attacked.
Also remember that building ships (apart from scouts and starbases) will bring you out of damage protection.
