Hi guys,

about a month ago I released a new version of my mods. It has some bugs, it has some new features. Expect new releases soon, as soon as I`ve got some time to spare.

What are my Mods - it`s a script written in javascript which adds a lot of nice usability features to this game.

Download: http://gc.mmanir.net
Source code: https://github.com/anfit/gc-mods
Bug tracker (report issues there): https://github.com/anfit/gc-mods/issues
Current version: 5.0.16

This script should work in Google Chrome or in Firefox newer then 2.0 with Greasemonkey extension installed (that`s a must before you try installing it on Firefox).

Try it. Praise it. Improve it. We`ve got 25 users so far, and counting.

well i think the rankings list is the most important page during fighting so basically if it were up to me id have my entire chickenpit on that page.

1. your fleet and able to disband quick on that page

2. the onpage fleet builder with the shortcuts like it is now

3. a market preview in case something tasty comes up, could be a realtime thingy like the turnticker and you can set a price and if that price is gonna show up on market it flashes

4.border planets visualized as well. that way you can plunder straight from there your upper most borders.

so if you have these mods in one ranking list, you dont have to go back to market tabs and planet tabs and so on, you can handle all your fighting straight from one chickenpit. obviously if you are not fighting then you can just chill and have all your tabs

what do you think?

hmm I see Moops has already encountered the same problem. A lot of ships in my list have a buildrate of "0" which means that whenever I want to include them in the quickbuild the submit button doesnt appear.
S Sibiriangun
I have encountered a few problems with version 5.0.19 in chrome.

1) Very often it wont let me biuld ships in the fleet builder. I can plug in how many ships I want to build, but the "submit" button never appears at the bottom of the screen. Sometimes it also provides a completely wrong number for the new number of ships in fleet. And it is not because I have been hit in the meanwhile.

2) The capsule lab. When I have fused a few artifacts the new number in the stock column becomes very large... like 81111111*10^56. And if I press Q in order to make it keep fusing a certain artifact I cant get it to stop by pressing Q again or anything else other than relogging.

It all works fine in FF where I use an older version (3.19 or something).

I think I know what you mean. If you go back in page history most browsers will server you page from cache, not a fresh one from server. My mod cannot distinguish between those, yet, and assumes its the latter, that is a fresh one. This results in many weird effects...
R Rotkaeppchen
i think i can see one bug not sure if you will understand it the way i describe it :P

lets say you are building ships (30 turns of chlor for example 480ships) you hit enter and build those ships. when the turn limit flashes yellow you hit backspace and enter again which will just jump to the previous page and let you build the same amount again since it records the ship amount.
this is all good but if you had a flashing pm box prior to the ship building, when hitting enter and using those turns it will open the new page with the turns used plus a new tab for the opening of that pm. when you then hit backspace on the built ship page it will go back to a page with a flashing pm box thus reopening a new tab. this will repeat itself unless you click back on the browse manually or refresh the page entirely (cancelling the cached amount of ships). its not a major issue but i thought i would point that out.

:)
M Moops
Ah yeah, thanks for the explanation
A AnfitOP
Hmm, ok, that`s not a bug. It`s a feature. My global ship list is missing some ships, and with all that rebalancing crab going on I could not trust _old_ ship data. So since 5.0.16 with each update it overloads your ship data with my ship data (which should be updated). Alas, I`m missing some ships, so you see some ships being "forgotten" with each update. Would this explain it well? Check when you update to 5.0.19 (it`s mostly for Chrome, no changes for you).

When balancing ends I`ll return to old functionality, which trusted data from before ship update.
M Moops
I`m on Firefox 7.0.1, using mod 5.0.18
I didn`t update cause I *thought* it was working correctly lol xD

Essentially I can click the ship, and it will update the ship builder correctly, but certain ships from my current fleet will be forgotten, they show up as 0 ships per turn, which doesn`t allow me to use my quick builds anymore. Its not a huge deal, I feel like it might have something to do with the multiple tabs I have open
A AnfitOP
Hmm, it could have occured on Chrome in 5.0.18, should not in 5.0.19. Which version, Moops? I`m sure some of the build rates are outright wrong, it changes too fast to follow. I`ll make a nice bundle update when it stabilizes.
M Moops
The only "bug" I`ve noticed with ship building is that it seems to forget the build rates... well... constantly. But I`m still playing with it to try to find out why lol

@Sibiriangun
If you see a bug, report it. Known bugs will be fixed. Unknown bugs will stay where they are.
S Sibiriangun
hmm scratch that, there are too many bugs with ship building. To bad, it looked great.
S Sibiriangun
Hey Anfit. Great job with the Chrome mod! I love the empire label in the ranks page. I guess I will use the rest of the evening coming up with suitable labels for all the CC empires :P
R Rotkaeppchen
Just updated. GREAT! Just saw all the options there are. awesome, but fleet is still not on the rankings list, am i doing something wrong?
A AnfitOP
BTW, Rotkaeppchen, this should have been fixed in 5.0.19. Perhaps you havent updated yet :P
A Anfit
@Rotkaeppchen neither should happen, expect a fix sometime soon
S Sadistic{}Interns
Hey Anfit,

great mod (as usual) =)
Where are the ships` range information?
R Rotkaeppchen
works for me too now on chrome although the information box keeps coming back. once read, i doubt people need to get that info on how to run the mod. upon refresh it reappears.
also having the current fleet on the rankings list page was a very good idea, i dont know why its gone now and you need to go to my fleet or build ships to see it.

but thank you for the effort anfit! great job
N Ninetales
Thanks Anfit =) You`re Awesome this =) Yes its fixed !

Well I can`t design anything as I don;t have a clue with coding or anything so that second link i can`t assit with besides what I stated in my post in this thread.

Regarding Warmongers post on your site, I agree with having tabs so if you don`t want some specialized info shown, you just don`t go to the tab, currently having an information overload is actually counter productive.

The only change I would suggest to Warmongers tab idea is have the no-retal part in the weapons section as it applies there and not on a general tab (it`s related to combat, not general or financial.)

Like I said before, it`s a fantastic mod, but the build ship is much more confusing and showing too much subjectively useful/useless information...especially for players just getting used to your mod or teh game in general. Making it a bit more user friendly and less confusing for this aspect would make your mod, in my eyes, perfect and would get you more users and thus more feedback and a better end result.

Regards

Aba

EDIT:

Also nfit, do you have MSN or Skype? if you do and are willing to chat, send me your contact info to me on RT. Would love to chat with you about the mod.

EDIT 2:

Another thought would be to still have all the info that is present, but not have it as a running total, and just have it as a single ship has THIS: and have the stats as they are now.

For example say I want to build 50 hercs (25 turns worth). It would look like this:

Terran Hercules 50 2 385310 35000 20000 45000 2270100 <--pr updates!

Even so it still looks a bit too cluttered for me but then again I like minimalist things with no, to me, useless info.

If you removed the whole `cost` collum (99% of people using your mod are established and build cost means nothing to them, only the turns and upkeep would matter) and also have the weapon show in the table at the bottom showing what you have and not on the ship build top table. Upkeep could also be at the bottom table and update dynamically.

Having to scroll down to see the PR of the proposed stack, when in a rush, can be very costly in terms of getting hit, missing a hit or whatever.

FINAL EDIT:

First off sorry for the massive wall o text.

I just had an idea. Why not make every bit of info as a selectable toggle in the options menu? Have a tick box if you want it to show total damage teh ship/stack can do, the upkeep of the ship, the cost (both per ship and for the total to make), the hull.

That should make as many people happy as possible. You wouldn`t need to change teh UI for the mod for teh fleet builder either, it would just not populate those areas with info.

Could that be done? It would seem to allow people to have what they want on and off. Only down side is it would need a little extra coding and a few more options to set up when you first install it. It would also allow you to change it from say your RT empire with the build cost doesnt matter and thus turned off, then go to your slow empire and turn it on due to the cost of the ships being a bigger concern.

Would that work and please more people than a rigid system that it has now? Not saying it`s bad or anything, just as you said in your post, many people want many other ways for it to look, having many options for it would please the most people in the long run I would assume.

Sorry for the long post but yeah..just my musings.
