is guard still uber awsome?

Right now I am only interested in two things. Guardian and Aminers, the rest at this time seems balanced offensively/defensively with the new BR`s, so Ill most likely take my miner for a spin when things pan out on RT. However like Raist I vm`d right before this as well ...

As for this update, it was needed, said and done I guess the community can stop moaning about some stuff for a while and channel it elsewhere >.>

Well I sadly I literally vm`d about 6 hours before they brought me into the discussions, otherwise i`d be out and about the ranks testing everything out. I`ll withhold any feelings about the changes until I can get my hands on some building and fighting time.

the formula for digging includes alot of things including population on the planet your digging on, and since guards are almost exclusively tax their population is generally high.

There are alot of components in the digging formula that even Stephen himself can not verify and in my experience digging with a terran or miner isn`t that great, usually better than viral yes but not guard from what i`ve seen with my own eyes.

I would really enjoy it if you would send me this formula you say to have; thanks in advance.

Guardian best race for digging? Are you drunk or high? The formula for digging includes difficulty, and guard is a difficult race according to the difficulty. And if somebody thinks guards dig better than terrans and miners, they haven`t been digging with terrans or miners.

And before you start flaming me, I have been digging a lot with my 1200+ days old guard, and even more with miner and terran(and what not). Usually on rare time.

Guard gained an increase in BR for some of their ships, just not as many as other races to put them more in line with the other races build rates.

That is all this update has done, no other changes to ship modes besides BR have been touched, same with racial income modifiers or anything else anyone may think. Only BR`s have been changed. It was a solution to the general feel of Guards building too fast prior to this and so that people can enjoy fighting more, rather than just building fleets and having to log cos it takes too long to get where they want to be.

other then a collective and an aminer, the ranks been pretty quiet, so i`ll be waiting for more empires to flex their empire in the coming ultimate weapon activation to have a better idea whats the effect in an actual battle for ranks =)

Whatever the reason maybe.. We are using minerals.. I hope miners get a little extra boosts eg 10%hull increase so that theres a lil bit of minerals selling around.. Upkeep have to be increased as well to ensure they sell the minerals..

Terran and collective are the diggers.. Dont know where ya all get aminer or guards from..

Seeing with all these changes i just wished to be a guardian seeing they are not so uber awesome..

I am cool with it really =) Strafez/K Class shields been my all time favorite blocking ships for guardians ...

i`ll look into Con eventually i think in my fleet =) since i have bad memories of Con when i first used guardians

The main issue with buffing K class is then it makes Guard having multiple ships that build at 90k+ where as other races only have 1 or none in the case of Collective. If we did do that, it would defeat the whole point of the BR increases (as a slight nerf to Guard outbuilding every one else and leveling the playing field...as well as the obvious less time wasted building).

Now the Con is a good blocking ship i would say to a terran spamming up to hit you if you spam it (assuming your not going to be pro-active and attack). It may not do much damage to them, but it does kind of stop them I guess (remember I`m a terran player and not played guard in over 4 years, if I`m wrong point it out :P ).


You bring up an interesting point also Ninetales regarding Neutrals will get used more, which is another of the intentions of the BR buff. I`m seeing more fodder walls and runner/queen/king stacks than I used to in the ranks due to how fast they build now...they are no longer a massive time sink..yay!.

mm with the increase of garnet and emerald ... more guardians should be slightly more adventurous as compared to the trusty old topaz

the quartz and conundrum though not my favorite ships would probable feature more initially to get some pr distance away from the 2 mil pr base

though i think k class should built faster then quarts or conundrum since its supposedly kalzul material , my suggestion is the built rate increase should switch between the two but never mind that since you guys should be able to kill quarts & conundrum faster

in all the strafez increase will make guardian stacking quicker in general... and quick enough to negate those angels and tyrs and garnets

Im Guardian and the update i find is fine more rubies and tour per turn and my stacking seems to still be beating spam so im for keeping the update

The whole point of the BR boosts is to reduce the Guards build rate advantage over all other races that they have enjoyed for years now. If you feel it is unfair, then sadly you are failing to adapt to a new environment.

As has been said these are preliminary changes that are subject to change (like Garuda going from 20 to 28/turn just a few hours back).

As long as your feedback is constructive and helpful in assisting us in balancing out these changes we will take it on board. If the complaints are just `i don`t like it` or `i feel i got screwed over` or `i liked it how it was before, being able to outbuild every race as guard` then I`m sorry, but your comfortable bubbles have been burst and are likely to be ignored in favor of more informative and intelligent posts. So to save us time reading, and your time typing, give us good solid info regarding the changes and how they can be improved (build rates only).
