What does loyalty or lack there of do to your colonies? Please help as I am extremely confused.

I once heard a rumor that it might, but I don`t believe it does. Land and planet type are some of the biggest factors, along with time of day. Loyalty is doubtful.
Does loyalty effect Excavation Digging ? How ?

It`s only important for tax income really. If you have higher loyalty, your population pays you more.
