Seeing as We the Food producers are making more food - AND the Taxers aren`t using more food (but reaping the benefits of 20% more income) lets play a little with the market dynamics and make them PAY some more for their food!

What about no Food below 15 for the rest of "20% week"?? How does that sound?!

*hands out t-shirts*

Whose with me?! 15 - 20 - 25? Where will it stop!?
F forsakenwolf
all the food producers should vm and have Backoff and everyother tax cry some more!
N NiHiLiM
food at 7$...

that`s 16% less income.. i feel punished :D
F FISTFULLOFDOLLARS
The food producers were never actually responsible for high prices. It was other empires buying it out and reposting. That and aacra stopped using turns
D DraconianParadise
wtg backoff, food prices was part of the reason i Vm`ed in the first place, stop being so greedy and keep food below 12, or suffer not selling any at all
E EvilAbadayos
Nah backoff, I`ve got no intention of posting any higher than 9 per for food, and always undercut by 1 per on food anyways so you wiull have a nice supply of cheap food mate.
B backoff
since someone is so `clever` trying to push up the food price, well, guess, i will vm....i hope majority of tax empire will follow my footstep as it is time to show food producer, dun be too greedy!
E EvilAbadayos
I can smell them too...the plague stinks
M MrMime
I can smell the Virals are waking up =) ...
M MajorDinero
It`s kinda funny...but i can survive on fast with these high food prices...but it just seems really unfair for me to have to buy food at 40+ prices, when I know that it`s ridicously easy to be any sort of agri based income.

But you see my point right? You even said it...miners make money up til food = 36. So, if food is selling for 18 a piece...the agri terrans are making pretty much the same amount of cash per food...and we`ve already established that it`s much easier for terrans to produce food compared to eating food.

CGs miner makes around 1/2 that of tax miners, and mineral miner on TB is a joke. Therefore tax is the only way to go imo.

Yeah, it sucks for the tax virals....they get shafted really easily.
F FISTFULLOFDOLLARS
Yeah can someone please buy it out!? All the taxers are max cash and not using turns :l
E EvilAbadayos
if you wantt o do that, have fun buying out teh current market lol
D DaTa78
Implement trade embargo! 25 credits per food no one sell below!
A AshyLarry
With the +20% income AND consumer goods, tax miners with max loyalty will still make a small, profitable income at $49 food, excluding the cost of CGs.

so... price is 8-9 right now. 25 is still a piece of cake for me, SI.
E EvilAbadayos
If thats the case on fast, then your boned, just VM till food drops in price or depop, you loose cash using turns with a pop with food that much.

Also if food is at 18 per, it`s too high for viral taxers to make money, from memory, at 5k loyalty virals break even at 18 per, and at 19 per with goods. Any higher they loose cash just using turns due to food costs. A Miners can make cash up to 36 per food and 37 with goods.

Just pointing out some things you don`t seem to of noticed (miners making money even at 30 per food, and virals loosing out at 18/19 per or so).

You chose to go tax, it has the highest per turn income, potentially, but it has a risk. Commerical is a lower incoem style with zero risk, as is minerals and goods pretty much for miners.

Going agri may seem like the golden ticket to being rich but if you over charge, people dont buy, and you make nothing, or loose cos of fleet upkeep and hoping what food you make sells to cover the upkeep cost. Agri terrans make more than commercial terrans up to when food is at around 4 per from memory (numbers may be off, its around 1am here and im too lazy to get out the income sims).

Some food for thought, pardon the pun

Evil:

When food starts to approach 18, this means that tax miners and agri makers make the same amount of cash per food eaten. This has never struck me as particularily fair. I (the taxer) have way higher base PR, took way longer (depending on TB server) to loyalty all my planets, and still...the agri empire makes comparable income to me.

All things equal...an agri terran will make more food than a tax miner can eat (assuming C3 and equal land)....so this doesn`t even accountn for fert and already we can see that food is more or less designed to be in abundance.

Food on fast is averaging anywhere from 30 a piece to 40+ a piece right now, hehe
E EvilAbadayos
well NiHiLiM, I had that as assumed knowledge with teh people chatting in the thread, what with them being mostly oldbies like myself and have that known. Notice I didn`t include capturing clusters in any of that? Just planets :P But yes, I missed directly mentioning that, viral and collectives cannot use either U Ferts or terran/miner/guard/maru made C1/C2/C3 colonies for agri purposes, and can either plunder them (pop up first for coll if your housing is high enough...but if it is, why are you hunting for agri colonies anyways?) or for viral, use it for commercial for a more direct passive income for when your foods not selling.
N NiHiLiM
@EA; you missed the part where Collectives (and Virals) can`t use captured clusters :p
so for the collective part, players leaving clusters on border isn`t necessary.. i even hate it to capture clusters, since i can`t use them ... :(
more the lack of a big player-base to steal borders from :)
E EvilAbadayos
MD: tax is the highest income style, it has a drawback for that perk, ok it has 2. Market reliance and high base PR, but if your having a high base PR, your making large sums of money and thus ment to fight high PR`s, so it`s not really a major disadvantage.

An agri empire, assuming terran for this example, can indeed to `easy` to set up, but to be good they need alot of land either via having ALOT of ferts, or massive amounts of gordoes to make a fert/several ferts quite large. They have a base PR thats the same as a commercial based terran empire and can fight both low and high whilst maintaining their maximum income (taxers have to plunder down pop to fight low, and takes a long tiemt o repop to max at high infra levels/high land/u larges).

As for a collective, them being easy to set up is debateable int eh current climate on RT (can`t speak for TB servers as I don`t play them). The lack of truely inactive players that leave their cores tob e captured are rare, thus getting high land on their clusters is hard and thus takes a while to get enough land to be producing alot of food and have a large income (however their upkeep is lower than terran so it is offset somewhat).

As for Maru, they are in the same boat as collective, with even less of a fleet upkeep. They can cap a spaz and fert and be happy in NP digging and gordoing, however havingt o fight for borders to fight high, just like collective, is a drawback to some.

Agri viral is kinda like the terrans, but relying on their clusters (the bigger planet count the cluster, the worse the agri mod as it happens, go figure). They can explore and such, takes a while to make a C4, however the same amount of time to say make 2 C2`s as A Miner or Guard taxers, and exactly the same tiem as a tax viral.

Now saying food should be 6-8 as standard is not really viable but I can see it stabilising at around 7 per with the buffed income. Ah well.

I rambled and forgot my point bout half way through...meh
