Hands on experience pays more than certs. You just have to have the certs for a company to look at your name :P

Comptia A+ is a nice little piece of paper that PROVES you know what you are talking about when it comes to computers. If anyone studies enough, anyone can have that certification.

Take me for instance. I suck at tests. I also dont care to take them. But I can set up raid and OSs and tear comps down and put em together again in a minute as good as the rest of us. I just dont have that paper. (I will soon however as I have two semesters left for my little tech degree).

I have a closet full of broken PSUs.
I have two drawers full of functional CPUs ranging from 8088s to phenoms.
I have a drawer dedicated to BIOS chips
I have a drawer dedicated to RAM...mostly DDR2, some DDR, one SD, and a set of RD with continuity modules.
I have six toolboxes, one is for my Neon SRT4
I have a police scanner with an array of 6 antennas tuned for 6 different bands. With it, I can listen to anything within 200 miles.
And last but not least, I have this comuter Im on not that quad-boots ubuntu, OSX, win7 ultimate, and XP Pro.

I have plans to replace every drive with SSDs.

Geek enough for you?

Ya gotta love the techno geeks. They talk smack about computers, but in reality fixing a problem is easy. Simply walk over to the closet, rummage around until you find the sledge hammer...and utilize it upon the offending machine. Voila ! Problem solved.

Take away the elctronic giozmo`s from today`s youngsters just out of diapers and once you get past the 20 small appendages on hands and feet, you guys are lost . Fist....I`m not even going to ask if you can use one, rather it would be interesting...have you ever SEEN a slide rule?

Seriously...you know where imporvement of computers has taken us? In 1969, the Apollo spacecraft which landed on the moon and returned the astronauts safely back to earth...the computer running that outfit was the equivalent of a 486. Today....we figure it will take another 10 years to get back to the moon. Think about that ....that`s where the computer has taken us today.

ofc I know what bricking means. Also, I believe I can do most of those things as well, except I`m not certified to do so (yeah I`m a geek). however since I don`t have that fancy piece of paper I can make the occasional slip up which causes a motherboard to end up with holes in it or something(yeah that happened to me once when trying to overclock my pc).

Anyway, props to you for getting certified, it`s certainly something I`ll probably never achieve.

Just give it a n hour or so and when you`re on the toilet you`ll realize why orange juice is more standard
