That is, appearently noone`s alive anymore due to starvation. It still has like 20 hous ing on it tough.
So wil this planet`s population ever recover, or am I stuck with a dead home planet?

Yeah,you better leave hopes from that planet,just try to set up other colonies or Restart;if don`t want to restart-there`s no use of that planet (except Mineral).You can`t cluster it,can`t destroy it so leave it..!

hmmmm.... interesting.... i`ve done some experiments on your situation vehystrix... and sadly, you can kiss goodbye to that planet...
it seems, never, never, never ever let your population goes to 0 even with 1 housing...
in order to do that, make sure the food is enough for your population in regards the loyalty...

Yeah, loyalty is 0 too. And my labor is -1, population 0. and I got 1 housing(Idemolished everything else)

cant u just destroy other infra to get +ve population? i used to that when i accidentally destroy good amount of housing (confusion with build / destroy button), when u do that u get negative pop..which can only be worse than zero i guess

When you explore a new planet there are already people on it acclimated to that planet. They reproduce when you add more housing.

Ok so how do you explain the colonization of other planets you explore then? Surely the same way of putting people on those planets should be usable on a dead home planet...
These people cannot survive on other planets, they grow acclimated to one planet and that is it, thus immigration is not an option. And since there is nobody there to reproduce they won`t grow back. One nice thing about these people though is that they have the option of asexually reproduction, so even if you have one person they can repopulate the entire planet.... though there is a small problem with incest in such instances.

Heh, I`m not restarting, I just maxed out my research...
Tough I don`t need any population to make money it struck me as odd that it wouldn`t grow back after hitting 0. What happened to immigration and the like?

Once pop hits zero I do not believe it will grow back. You can always restart if your empire is young..... if not then I really wouldn`t sweat too much over a dead home world, it`s not going to make that big of a difference once you get your empire fully setup. Just learn a lesson and try to avoid running out of food so that when you get better colonies you don`t kill the pop on them.

Yeah that`s what I tought, so I bought a couple of million food (and my current food consumprion is 5), and have been using turns for quite a while now...

population will grow back when you buy some food and start using turns...
